Abstract

The larger research project that underpins this study1 consisted of a mixed methods design, with three integrated data-collection and analysis phases involving lower secondary (Gymnasio) schools in and around Lefkosia: (1) An explorative, qualitative interview phase; (2) a theory-testing, quantitative survey phase; and (3) an explorative, qualitative interview phase that focuses more on certain findings and themes that emerged as theoretically interesting from the previous two phases. This study only relies on the survey data collected in the second phase and the qualitative interview data collected in the third phase.
