Abstract

The author explores the history and achievements of the Joint Committee of the Anglican-al-Azhar Dialogue, while contextualizing relations between the state and the Coptic Orthodox Church, the largest Christian denomination in Egypt. She charts the transformation in Al-Azhar’s attitude toward dialogue with people of other faiths, as well as the liberalizing of Anglican perspectives.
