Abstract
Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project is a nonprofit organization based in Seattle, with ten employees and an annual budget of $1 million dollars.1 Over the last 18 years, it has produced a website that has emerged as an important source of learning and teaching about the World War II incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans. Within the course of the past year, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world have visited Densho’s onsite offerings, including its still-expanding collection of 800 video interviews with Japanese Americans who were incarcerated in wartime American detention facilities.
