Entitlements

  • Chapter
Household Finance

Abstract

There are many entitlements the state supermarket and its politicians have granted over the years without the foresight provided by study and confirmation of whether these are affordable and sustainable. As usual, short-termism has had the upper hand. Among these entitlements the most voracious in a financing sense have been:

  • Jobs provided by the state;

  • Free education (see Chapter 3);

  • Pensions (see section 2.4);

  • Health care for all (see sections 2.5 and 2.6).
