Information and Communication Technologies in the Globalization of Small and Medium-Sized Firms during the Global Crisis: An Empirical Study in China, India, New Zealand, and Singapore

Abstract

Literature on the influence of information and communication technology (ICT) on the management of firms first focused on its potential to generate competitive advantages. Some authors even promoted the ‘magic bullet’ theory that the wonder weapon I CT even fires itself. However, this basically proved to be an illusion and empirical studies provided evidence that ICT can contribute to the generation of competitive advantage but only in the context of other organizational resources.
