Abstract

Medical tourism is the result of international patients travelling around the world to receive treatment while obtaining additional services, such as planning their trip or finding accommodation and recovery facilities. Consumers often seek procedures at a lower cost and good quality, motivated by lacking or insufficient insurance coverage, or because they need or wish to undertake elective surgery, cosmetic procedures or wellness services.

Cristina Robledo-Ardila prepared this case from public sources as the basis for class discussion.
