Abstract

The Alaska Permanent Fund (APF) and the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) resulted from the conjunction of unusual circumstances in the years following announcement of the Prudhoe Bay oil field discovery in 1968 and extension of these circumstances through the implementation of the PFD program in 1982.
