Easter Sunday. She was wearing a little white dress, looking radiant. He was decked out in rubber boots, simple outsider’s boots, a monumental overcoat and a time-worn scarf. The two of them were heading out in a little car made in Japan, one pretty April afternoon that happened to be Easter Sunday. He barely remembered the date. She pointed it out to him again and asked him to enjoy it like someone might watch
