Abstract
At all times and places, the organization of war, meaning the use of violence for the attainment of collective ends, was not arbitrary.At all times and places that organization necessarily reflected the nature of the societies that waged war, their culture, their economy, and the way they were governed (Andreski 1968; Keegan 1993).
