Planning the Future

Abstract

At the beginning of this book I talked of Japan as being a resource-poor country. By 2004, however, the country had become affluent, with its people economically well provided for. The Japanese people have not only eradicated most problems of poverty, but are also enjoying the benefits of increasing economic freedom. For many individuals, the possibility of being able to actively explore the potential to their own lives is emerging. Nevertheless, as discussed in Chapter 10, today the majority of Japanese find themselves unhappy, their economy poorly structured and their society stifling.
