Abstract
In the previous chapter I argued that the communal success, such as it was, of the largely working class male characters populating the communitarian films, Billy Elliot, Brassed Off and The Full Monty, was only achieved through the involvement of women. I also argued, however, that the process by which they formed their masculine collective identity and their subsequent action was achieved at the expense of the women’s narrative marginalization.
