Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the practice of preimplantation diagnosis. This practice will be explored in two stages: first, we analyse the ethical-legal problems that might arise as a consequence of the inadequate use of the procedure, such as the potentially eugenic nature of the practice, embryo selection, sex selection and embryo experimentation; and second, we undertake an overview of the existing legislation on preimplantation diagnosis in different European countries.
