Abstract
This chapter seeks to offer a comprehensive view of the treatment of de Gaulle by the French press during his presidency. Section 2.1 presents the results of the content analysis of the Paris-based newspapers and Section 2.2 proceeds to do the same with the leading provincial newspapers. Section 2.3 focuses on two prominent current affairs magazines, Le Nouvel Observateur and L’Express. Section 2.4 examines other leading periodicals and Section 2.5 looks at monthly and bimonthly reviews that stand at the crossroads between academia and journalism.
