The Resilience of National Institutions: The Case of Banking Regulation

  • Chapter
New Rules for Global Markets

Abstract

The topic of globalization is one that cuts across sub-field lines in political science: both in International Relations (IR) and in Comparative Government (CG), the subject of globalization, its origins, definitions, characteristics and consequences have contributed to an academic growth industry in the last decade or so. But the subject sits uneasily in either of the two subdisciplines alone, it needs the combined contribution from both scholars of IR and CG, for the process of globalization changes both the workings of the international system and of national systems of government.
