Representation and Representatives to the UN — Institutionalization as an Internal Factor

As explored in the theoretical section, adjustments in the patterns of activity between societal actors and official institutions are dependent on internal factors. In such a view, institutionalization refers to the structural provisions within the organizations with regard to the official institution. For the purposes of this study, these internal factors have been identified as the organizational arrangements within NGOs for their relations with the UN. Therefore, I examine NGO representation and representatives to the UN as forms of internal institutionalization of relations with the UN.
