Abstract
I started this book by asking two main questions:
-
1.
Why is it that Japan, a modem and urbanized society, appears to a large extent to have succeeded in combating (predatory) crimes during the period 1950–85?
-
2.
Is there anything to be learned from the Japanese case concerning the Western crime paradox (increasing affluence and increasing crime despite increasing crime policy)?
