Poland: an effective strategy of systemic change

  • Chapter
Transformations of Post-Communist States

Abstract

Systemic changes in each post-communist country have their own national preconditions and history, which lie beyond the 1989 threshold. The process commenced at that time (1989) embraces several spheres such as the economy, politics, social conditions, security issues, international environment and the linkages between them. Poland is no exception to this rule. The aim of this chapter is to point out how deep the roots of systemic transformation are and why, in Poland’s case, the adopted strategy turned out to be a success.
