Abstract

‘Multiculturalism’ has been used to describe a wide range of circumstances and is understood and interpreted in a number of different ways. This chapter attempts to explain some of the various ways in which the term has been used and also suggests some new interpretations of ‘difference’ within modern multicultural democracies.
