Abstract

The British Cabinet was ultimately rescued from its predicament by the French, who were well aware that the MacDonald Plan failed to offer them the increased security they needed if they were to reduce their power in relation to Germany. Despite being agreed in principle in May, however, the French did not officially release details of their amendments to the MacDonald Plan until September.
