Abstract
Civil society organizations play a crucial role in the inclusion of resource-poor and deprived people who are at risk of exclusion. Young unemployed people are one such group. In fact, civil society organizations are important for people in general, as they contribute to the vitality of democracy, for example, by creating social capital which, in turn, benefits norms of cooperation, solidarity, and reciprocity (Putnam 1993, 2000). However, the role they play for young unemployed people as well as precarious young workers is particularly important as these are among the most fragile sectors of European societies.
