Abstract

Hasan Askari was born in Hyderabad (India) in 1932. He received his MA and PhD in Sociology from Osmania University and later joined the same department in Osmania as a lecturer. He became a Reader in 1957 and remained in that post until joining Aligarh Muslim University in 1975. He worked there for a couple of years, after which he left India for Europe and eventually settled in England. During his stay in India, he wrote extensively on the question of modernity and faith, multi-religious society and dialogue, to name just some of the various areas of his work.
