Abstract
Chapter 2 pointed to the difficulty of accessing ownership of newspapers due to the economic mechanisms regulating the journalistic field. Two of the effects of these mechanisms were to restrict access to the public sphere and to define the ideological and political boundaries of the journalistic discourse. The following section looks at both aspects of the impact of the formation of the journalistic field upon the discourse of the press.
