Abstract

The investment decisions of modern multinationals can substantially affect the wealth of nations. Nations cannot dictate the decisions of multinationals to remain within national borders, to move in, or move out: they can only bargain for desirable outcomes. In this way multinationals have come to compromise the power of nation states, which makes the former’s investment decisions an important issue for international relations.
