Abstract
Graham Barkus discusses the dilemma of a coach facing a client whose well-established defense routines prevent him from making a substantial and much-needed change. The situation is exacerbated by the challenging personal circumstances of the individual involved, as well as the management team’s reluctance to take ownership of the coachee’s developmental challenges. Management seems to outsource the issue to the coach.
