Abstract
When it comes to tracing Russia’s encounter with and policy responses to globalization, climate change presents itself as an illustrative study. Rising awareness of transboundary environmental problems, like climate change, that transcend national borders and the ability of any one country to address them alone has been an important driving force behind the recent political and academic attention to the phenomenon of globalization. For Russian policymakers, climate change was initially seen as primarily an environmental and research. However, over the last decade, the economic and political significance of the issue, as well as the domestic impacts of climate change, has become increasingly apparent.
