Abstract

Bridgeport, Connecticut, has few obvious claims to fame. It is the site of the first ever Subway restaurant, and there is some evidence for sits being the birthplace of the Frisbee, but in the early winter of 2009 it is typical of many industrial towns in the United States during these times of economic pain.
