Abstract
Throughout the last decades, globalization has turned into one of the most prominent topics on both the public and the political agenda. Most frequently, it is equated with increasing employment flexibilization, the rise in atypical work forms and increasing employment insecurity in general. Most Europeans thus tend to see the increasing openness to worldwide markets as a somewhat ambiguous, if not even unfavourable development.
