Abstract

I have argued that the state is a patriarchal institution. But it does not follow from this that theories which oppose the state, have coherently constructed a world which looks beyond patriarchy. This is because theories which purport to be opposed to the state, can unwittingly embrace a statist logic. Hence they are not authentically antistatist at all, and they end up, despite their emancipatory intentions, endorsing rather than challenging, patriarchy.
