Abstract
Marguerite Duras’s L’Amante anglaise (1967) recounts a simple, everyday murder:
Je me souviens d’un crime: c’était un ouvrier agricole des environs, très bien à tous les points de vue. Un soir il arrachait des pommes de terre dans un champ et une femme est passée. II la connaissait depuis très longtemps. Peut-être la désirait-il, I’aimaitil sans l’avouer? Elle a refusé de le suivre dans la forêt. Il l’a tuée.1
