Travel Metaphors in Dance — Gendered Constructions of Travel, Spaces and Subjects

  • Valerie A. Briginshaw

In the next three chapters, dances set in mainly outdoor spaces are examined, focusing on the ways in which the physical spaces of their location can be seen to be constructed in part by the dances, and in turn can contribute to constructions of the dancing subjects. The role gender plays in these constructions is a focus.
