Abstract

The co-principality of Andorra is situated in the eastern Pyrenees. The country consists of gorges, narrow valleys and defiles, surrounded by high mountain peaks varying between 880 and 1,800 metres. Its maximum length is 30 km and ita width 20 km; it has an area of 465 sq. km (190 sq. miles) and a population of about 14,000, scattered in 6 villages. Catalan is the language spoken.
