Carol I., King of Roumania, born April 20, 1839, son of the late Prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen; elected ‘Domnul,’ or Lord of Roumania, April 20, 1866; accepted his election May 22, 1866. Proclaimed King of Rioumania, March 26, 1881. Married, November 15, 1869, to Princes Elizabeth von Neuwied, born December 29, 1843.
