Abstract

Of course, there are academics who research all the problems outlined in this book. Though many disciplines are involved, one that is growing rapidly is managerial psychology, populated by applied psychologists of many different backgrounds. They write learned (and popular) books and papers. They propose models and offer solutions. Some are despised by hardbitten managers at the coalface as idle idealists who never get their hands dirty or who have little real-world practical personal experience of things they write about. Other see them as useful, disinterested observers who can help make sense of the complexity of their worlds.
