Abstract
The two countries of East Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, are homes to a sizable portion of adherents of Christianity and Islam. For the most part, they have been spared from experiencing violence caused by religious divides. There are numerous developments that witness to the fact that times are changing. The global and the local are impacting on these countries and pushing them to deal with the situation that is evolving rapidly. In the light of some recent developments, one wonders at this stage how long the status quo will withstand the pressures of a changing environment.
