Abstract

My introductory essay is primarily devoted to reconstructing in depth the immediate circumstances of publication for Yale’s Reports of 1828. This work, along with republication of the text and material from contemporary pamphlets, is intended to be a starting point from which others can make well-informed use of Yale’s document in testing and extending my research and in exploring larger questions.
