Abstract
In April 2001, the Centre for Research in Education and Gender at the Institute of Education, University of London, hosted the third international ‘Gender and Education’ conference. Entitled ‘The Politics of Gender and Education’, the conference attracted over 200 delegates from around the world. The high levels of response to the theme revealed that gender is indeed still high on the agenda, but the kinds of debates and struggles that are in play about gender issues in education take many new forms which reflect changing political positions.
