Abstract

Section 5.3 focused on the mind-styles of Esther, the first-person narrator and the third-person narrator in Bleak House from the viewpoint of collocations. In order to make the collocational characteristics of Esther’s narration clearer, this chapter presents a comparative study of collocations used by Dickens’ other first-person narrators: David in David Copperfield and Pip in Great Expectations.
