Abstract
The chapter provides an analysis of the role of the media in Argentina during the 1990s, its ability to shape public opinion and criminal policies. I also analyse the credibility and consumption of newspapers during that decade and the type of discourses circulating about ‘us’ versus ‘them’. I provide a clear characterization of the reading contract of Clarín, La Nación and Página 12, which expressed three different ‘realities’, and explain the reasons behind my choice of newspapers for the media sample.
