Abstract
The American economist and sociologist Emily Greene Balch (1867–1961) shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1946 for the same anti-war activism for which she lost her professorship at Wellesley College in 1918. Her research focused on the social, cultural, and economic benefits of free immigration from diverse sources.
