Abstract

The 1907 Revival Movement in Korea has been recognized as the driving force of the growth in Korean Christianity. The psychological instability had an enormous effect on developing the 1907 Movement which was characterized by the sensitivity to sins and wrongdoings, the petition for forgiveness, the confession of the sins in public, intense religious experiences, and a feeling of peace and joy as a result of the recovery of the self. Self psychology provides useful concepts to psychologically analyze the Movement.
