Abstract
This chapter revisits the gendered implications of the Bosnian War and the Dayton Peace Agreement. It foregrounds a key site of tension between the institutional commitments for gender equality and the unexpected gendered consequences of the consociational formula deployed to end the war. Drawing on feminist theories of citizenship, the chapter develops a framework to analyse and foreground women’s experiences in this context.
