Abstract
Trust is essential for any team working together towards a common goal/objective. In humanitarian logistics operations, relief organizations often have to work collaboratively in emergent response groups or hastily formed networks. Trust in such a context, termed as “swift trust” in the literature, is an important but less explored topic. This study therefore attempts to fill the research gap by an empirical investigation with field data from the realm of humanitarian operations. The responses from the humanitarian players in Southeast Asia are used to validate our research framework which incorporates various factors affecting the formation of swift trust and its impact on team coordination and effectiveness. This study will enrich the general understanding of swift trust in relief networks, which may in turn improve humanitarian logistics operations in rapid onset disasters.
