Abstract
It is, of course, impossible to begin a discussion of dance leadership without starting from the beginning with two questions: What is dance? What is leadership? Frameworks around each term are investigated and interrogated; new definitions are established on the way to creating a beginning theoretical framework for dance leadership. How this nascent theory might appear in dance leadership practice; and the proposed settings, interventions, contexts, perceptions, and discussion of dance leadership as they occur in the practice of dance leaders, presented in the forms of practice are foreshadowed as the work progresses.
