Abstract

Focusing on the period 1993 to 2009, the author examines how executions were resumed and how the government tried to maintain the dominant discourse on crime and punishment for the justification of capital punishment. The chapter investigates how the amendments to the secretive policy of the death penalty during these eras helped the government maintain its pro-death-penalty stance and resume executions legitimately.
