Abstract
This chapter examines the relationship between community service and service-learning experiences and five measures of student satisfaction using multi-institutional data from the 2014 Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey. Specifically, this chapter considers the influence of service experiences on students’ satisfaction with their overall social experience in college, their overall academic experience in college, the perceived value of their education for the price paid, the feeling of belonging at their institution, and their indication that they would choose to reenroll at their current institution. Further, this chapter discusses implications for university professionals interested in improving students’ satisfaction with their social and academic institutional experiences.
