Abstract

The current ecological climate suggests the need for a global consensus or movement towards an informed pedagogical approach to issues regarding climate change, and the related issues concerning social mobility, empowerment and conscientization of this subject. The enquiry this poses is what level of education does the current population have regarding this? The current situation requires research and analysis to ascertain what action is needed to transform and bridge the current diverse opinions, knowledge and beliefs whilst making a positive impact within the community.

This paper explores levels of environmental conscientization on an international scale, giving examples from field research and case studies conducted in a city (Jakarta, Indonesia), a town (Burnley, UK) and a village (Bhimpokhara, Nepal) by active participation and collaboration with these diverse communities.
