Abstract

The meaning of methodological individualism is not entirely clear, even among Austrians—can all action be reduced to the individual, as Rothbard and his followers perceive Mises to have argued persuasively, or must the interaction between individuals just as important? Hodgson (2007) explores the history of the term and its various meanings, arguing that “Despite its frequent appearance, there is no consensus on its sense and usage” (Hodgson 2007: 212).
