Abstract
A producer, director, and dancer whose career began in vaudeville, George White (1890–1968) was fired from Ziegfeld’s Follies when he told Ziegfeld that the quality of the dances could be improved. White then produced his own series of revues, George White’s Scandals (1919–1939), which often featured the music of George Gershwin.
