Only a few got excited when yet another US official peace mission hit the news. US Secretary of State John Kerry announced in a press conference in Amman on July 19, 2013, that he had reached an agreement that established a basis for resuming direct final-status negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. That announcement came at the end of his sixth trip this year to the Middle East to try to get the parties back to the peace table for the first time in three years. Kerry described his achievement as “a significant and a welcome step forward.”1
