Abstract

The introduction to this book raised the question to what extent, and in what ways, strategic uncertainty in East Asia about the United States’ security engagement in the region over the next 15–20 years affects the direction in which Asia’s regional order is currently evolving. To address this issue, the preceding chapters have discussed the perceptions and behaviour with regard to strategic uncertainty of the main actors involved in East Asian security affairs.
